Wool care guide

To enjoy our wool products for a long time, it is important to wash them properly and pay attention to their special properties.

Wool is dirt-repellent and should therefore washed as little as possible become.

ALWERO PRODUCTS should not be washed if possible.

Usually, airing the fabric thoroughly overnight (e.g., by an open window or on a balcony) is sufficient to neutralize odors. Wool textiles are easy to shake out, as soiling is often only superficial due to the scale-like structure of wool. Dirt can also be brushed out or wiped off with a damp cloth. Harsh friction should generally be avoided, as this could cause the fibers to felt.

Pilling (the formation of small knots) in wool is a natural process and unavoidable with regular use. The softer the yarn, the more likely it is to pill. Accordingly, pilling occurs particularly in fine wool fibers. To treat pilling, we also recommend brushing and washing delicate garments inside out.

Care instructions for wool textiles

Woolen textiles can be washed either by hand or in the washing machine using the wool or hand-wash cycle. Again, please do not rub or wring vigorously to prevent the wool from matting.

Hand wash

When handwashing, it's very important that the water isn't too hot (maximum 30 degrees Celsius!). Always use wool detergent. A quick, gentle swirl and gentle squeeze will keep your wool items soft and elastic. Avoid prolonged soaking. Rinse thoroughly with water afterward. The rinse water should be the same temperature as the wash water, as wool doesn't tolerate thermal shock, otherwise the garments will shrink and felt. Before drying, roll the garment in a towel and gently squeeze out any excess moisture. Then gently pull it into shape and dry flat, if possible.

Wool wash cycle

When machine washing, please do not exceed 30 degrees Celsius. Cold wash is even better, as it prevents a sudden drop in temperature. A small amount of wool detergent is sufficient, and the washing machine drum should not be overfilled. When machine washing, a low spin speed is particularly important (preferably no more than 400 rpm), as excessive spin promotes the natural felting of wool.

ALWERO products must not be spun at all.

If the textiles are heavily soiled, we recommend pre-treating the stains with gall soap. After washing, pull the wool into shape while wet and dry it flat. Do not tumble dry or place it on a radiator, as this will cause the wool to stiffen and felt.

A notice :
Every washing machine is different. Please check the program settings before washing your clothes for the first time and, if in doubt, use cold water. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee any defects after washing in the washing machine.
